Redemption (theology)
Redemption is an essential concept in many religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The term implies that something has been paid for or bought back, like a slave who has been set free through the payment of a ransom. Christianity In Christian theology, redemption (, ) refers to the deliverance of Christians from sin and its consequences. Christians believe that all people are born into a state of sin and separation from God, and that redemption is a necessary part of salvation in order to obtain eternal life. Leon Morris says that " Paul uses the concept of redemption primarily to speak of the saving significance of the death of Christ." In the New Testament, ''redemption'' and related words are used to refer both to deliverance from sin and to freeing from captivity. The Myth Of Pet Overpopulation And The No Kill Revolution In America
''The'' is a grammatical article in English, denoting nouns that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pronoun ''thee'') ...

The Living Corpse
''The Living Corpse'' () is a Russian play by Leo Tolstoy. Although written around 1900, it was only published shortly after his death—Tolstoy had never considered the work finished. An immediate success, it is still performed. Arthur Hopkins produced its Broadway premiere in 1918 under the title ''Redemption'', starring John Barrymore. Plot The central character of the play, Fedor Protasov, is tormented by the belief that his wife Liza has never really chosen between him and the more conventional Victor Karenin, a rival for her hand. He wants to kill himself, but doesn't have the nerve. Running away from his life, he first falls in with Gypsies, and into a sexual relationship with a Gypsy singer, Masha. However, facing Masha's parents' disapproval, he runs away from this life as well. Again he wants to kill himself, but lacks the nerve; again, his descent continues. Meanwhile, his wife, presuming him dead, has married the other man. When Protasov is discovered, she is c ...

The Redemption (novel)
''The Redemption'' is a 1936 novel by F. J. Thwaites. It was his ninth novel. Plot Terry Gordon, second officer on a mail steamer, loses his job due to the influence of a beautiful girl. He hits rock bottom but finds redemption through the help of another woman. Reception According to one critic: Speed is not impairing the work of this young Australian author, neither is he skimping words in order to get each book finished. This one has more than 300 pages, and in spite of a rather obvious ending holds the interest all the way. 'The Redemption' has many passages reminiscent of 'Broken Wings' and 'The Mad Doctor,' and the general theme, too, is not original. But the setting is different and the treatment more mature, showing a keener understanding of human beings. In 1937 the novel was reprinted in the United Kingdom.
